Photographer's Note

Hey everybody,
After a sort break, I'm back again..

The small church Agios Antonios, over the hill in the "dead" village of Platanos. In my next post I'll write down about the history of Platanos.

PP: I used a "action" called Gothic Glow in order to make the composition more dramatic.

Metallic Blue is amazing!, also the sun light burning on the face of the church, excellent contrast. Maybe try to "paint" this Gothic glow effect on all areas of the picture except for the outline of the church to make it a little more credible... Well Done!

Wow! This shot has a lot of impact - it really jumps out at me when I see it, probably because of the saturated colour. I like the composition too, simple but very powerful. You got up close to the church, which allows us to see the details, and cuts out a lot of extraneous objects to either side. I like the glow you used - very effective. I'm thinking this would be very good to use in black & white conversions. Superb shot!

About the picture...great sky!!! Impressive. The colours, as you told us, are really dramatic. Maybe the church needs a little more definition?

Good to see you back, my friend. This is a very dramatic and well composed shot that glows with warmth. The clarity of detail on the church is superb. The softness of the sky and foreground in this case enhances and gives a very painterly look to the photo. I like this one very much. First rate work.

Pour être dramatique, elle est dramtique la photo et je pense qu'elle le serait davantage avec un ciel gris, désaturé en couleurs.

I was this evening to an old silent movie (1926) of Faust (with life music). This picture suits the old images very well. Only too much colours for a black and white movie, but the atmosphere is the same. Well done.

Hi Ioannis,
It sure is dramatic and eerie too especially when it's so deserted and without a soul around. However, I enjoyed the light which falls at a nice angle and bringing out the form of the architecture in an interesting manner. The delicate colours of the rocks on the wall helped to soften the strong and dominating sky. Well done!! Regards and nice to see you back.

John this Gothic glow really has a nice effect on this secne. I think it looks nice even without the effect because the bright sunlight on the building againest the dark sky always makes for a dramatic photo. Nice work!

Hello John, this is a wonderful feast of colour.The church is perfectly illumnated with great detail in the stones. The sky has a dramatic feel to it. The PP has given a softness to the image that is attractive but makes the picture look a little like it is in a fairytale rather than real.

Superb image. What a atmosphere, I think you succeeded well in applying Gothic Glow. This looks like Middle Ages orso, atleast, I wasn't their..but just imaginary. Great light and sky, strong composition. Don't know about the hard shadow of the building, maybe it's a bit too dark.
Also think the sharpness could be increased somehow, especially along the crosses on the roof and the wall.
But the atmosphere is such a major part here, that it's a wonderful image.
