Photographer's Note
The worst part of a holiday - leaving! I took my last view of Halki through the mirror behind the bar on the small ferry to Rhodes. I then decided to change the surrounding area to B&W, to emphasise the brightness of the colours in the pure Greek light. This treatment also hints at the sadness of departure and the grey winter weather waiting for us all back home in the UK.
I can now look forward to arriving back in Greece - this will be my last post before leaving for Skopelos on 6th May.

Clever idea, Maggie, and well carried out. But I am sad for the grey-haired gentleman who has been turned grey all over!
Have a wonderful holiday - and again congratulations on your 2nd prize in the 'People in the garden' category of the Kew competition.

Geia sou Maggie!
Excellent photo, fantastic daily life scene, great capture of a moment that's sad, but has given you great inspiration! Excellent framing and composition, perfect use of the partial desaturation effect! [email protected]

Hello Maggie,
nice your idea to change the surrounding area to B&W.I can see with pleasure these independent combination of the two levels of the scene, with the tourists on the deck of the ship to enjoy the departure.Well done.
Have a nice trip and residence in Skopelos,Danos

Hello Maggie. A photographic experiment with color and black-and-white. It works in the best way. The black-and-white part is in the foreground. The words BAR and Lavazza fit vey well. The colored background shows another world. Altogether an interesting contrast. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Maggie,
An experiment which has worked extremely well.
As you point out, the desaturation emphasises the loss of colour, the loss of joy, the return to a less interesting light!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
