"Votes" and colours in the mediaeval village of Pyrgi.

"Votes" or "skepasta" are the arched connections between the houses. In times of a Turkish invasion they were used as an escape-route.
And of course the "skepasta" are decorated "xista" ( carved patterns).

Arches decorated beautifully are brilliantly captured with a dynamic vertical composition. Blue of the sky shows the skepasta more beautifully.
