Rodia Wetlands

In this landscape of rare beauty, the largest population of wintering waterfowl in Greece (about 100,000), parked and played around 250 species of birds, found the third largest pelican colony in Europe and is considered the best tortoise place in Greece.
The scenery enchants the visitor: the reeds, water lilies,interspersed with salt marshes, open water surfaces and small closed brackish lakes. Crossing the reed islets with thrifts, the visitor knows from near the winged inhabitants, where every season is different. The wetland is also known for its great fish production capacity.

Hello Danos,
I don't see any glimpse of water hear, so it seems like a surprising place to find an old boat. It still looks quite good in this dilapidated state, where it is slowly going back to nature. I like the look of the much older tree leaning over the boat, framing the composition very well.

I like how there's no sky in this one, the entire frame is filled and used smartly.

the large branches of the tree makes it look more rustic as well. excellent post

Quite picturesque little scene. It's certain that boat no more holds water. Sun shining on background grass makes good contrast. And the tree reaching left edge diagonally is perfectly placed.

An original find that you put on image very well with this diffuse light. The boat has seen better days but is now retired in the shadow of this big tree. Hope it has many stories to tell from his life on the water.

Καλησπέρα Δάνο,
ένα ασυνήθιστο σκηνικό που μας κάνει να αναρωτιώμαστε τόσο για τη θέση της βάρκας και τον λόγο για τον οποίο βρίσκεται εκεί όσο και για την ευρύτερη περιοχή έξω από το κάδρο. Μου αρέσει πολύ η απλή αλλά πλήρης σύνθεση, τα χαρακτηριστικά του φυσικού τοπίου που τείνουν να ενσωματώσουν σ΄αυτό και τη βάρκα. Πολύ ωραία τα φυσικά χρώματα, η μυστηριώδης ατμόσφαιρα και ο τρόπος που φιλτράρεται το φως μέσα στο κάδρο. Συγχαρητήρια και ευχαριστώ!

Hi Danos,

Seemingly not a trace of water in sight, I can only imagine this poor old boat has been left for quite some time now. An interesting, and fun find for a photographer. :) In fact, I'd say this has turned out to be a little "gem" in the otherwise empty spaces of the wetlands.

Given enough time, nature will completely claim it as her own, until then, it's made for a nice opportunity of rustic and textured appeal through the eyes of your keen lens. Nice, natural framing from the tree and foreground...you've done well to its memory alive for a long time to come. Enjoy the new day. All the best.

The boat looks old and abandoned but it seems to be peacefully resting below the large tree. The impressive trunk and branches provide a good protection for the boat below. A beautifully composed picture!

Lost boat in the woods, well taken from a nice POV and well premeditated perspective, Danos.

I doubt that I could get any good photo of this subject: too many vegetation and elements that are prone to clutter the compo, a very difficult light situation that could easily provoke both OE and UE, etc. However, you did a splendid job both with the compo, using the inclined tree to frame the boat and controlling the light masterfully, ending up with a beautiful photo. Bravo!
