Myrina port

Myrina (Greek: Μύρινα) is a former municipality on the island of Lemnos, North Aegean, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Lemnos, of which it is a municipal unit. It covers the west coast of the island, and has a land area of 82.049 square kilometres (31.679 sq mi), about 17.2% of the island's area. Its municipal seat was the town of Mýrina (pop. 5,107 at the 2001 census), located in the middle of the island's west coast. The town is also the capital of Lemnos, as well as the seat of the Metropolitan (Greek Orthodox bishop) of Lemnos.
According to Herodotus, when the Chersonese on the Hellespont came under Athens' rule, Miltiades the son of Cimon came from Elaeus on the Chersonese to Lemnos where he proclaimed the Pelasgians must submit. The Hephaestians obeyed, giving up their city Hefaestia, but the Myrinaeans from the city Myrina would not be as easily pursued until they too submitted to Athens, thus given control of the island to Miltiades and the Athenians. hard to make out the Castle, but its certainly there, love how it hugs the crest of the hilltop like that. its a wonderful day for photos, the large clouds and bright light make strong positive impacts. good shot all around with lots of depths from fg to bg. cheers

This is a very well composed photo where the long line of colourful boats create good depth and lead my eyes towards the huge rock with the castle at the top. The background view of sky, clouds and dark grey rock above the yellow buildings is very attractive. You exposed this very nicely and the colours and contrasts are superb.

Hello Danos, the colourful boats lead us right to the heart of the picture; I like the contrast of their regular shapes with the jagged edges of the hills beyond the port.

The spectacularly formed mountains and rocks make a great backdrop for this view of the charming town and the small port. The boat add some nice and bright colours, just as some of the façades. Fine light too.

HGello Danos, Very nice composition. Nice colorful boat all around the small bay, the low nice house so close to the sea. And the rock with the castle as a bonus. excellent colours and sharpness.
I have read about the difficult situation in Greece, also near Athens. Hopefully, you are safe. What a year with such a strange weather. Now Sweden and Greece in the fire as I read.

Hi Danos,
there is so much going on in this beautifully busy composition! The marina makes a lovely foreground,but the whole harbour feels like a great place to have a walk. The mountains add a very unique character and the clouds decorate it additionally again.

Hello Danos,

This is definitely a very attractive setting!
The little harbour, containing the rows of moored boats, makes a most attractive feature.
The light is beautiful, bringing out the colours and creating lots of reflections on the smooth sea.
I thought there were just rocky peaks in the distance but, after reading your notes, I realised there was a castle hiding up there!
It is built on a very effective site and must have fabulous views over the land and the sea.

A wonderful view of the port and the huge rocks behind it.
The row of the boats and the line of the quay add good depth to the picture.
