Photographer's Note

The arched bridge at the Pouri location, which is considered to mark the end of the mountains and the beginning of the settlement, a classic example of stonemasonry of the era it was build (1514)

This arched bridge was built in 1514 by St. Vissarion, and up to 1936 was the only link between the plains of Thessaly and the villages of Pindos. It is 67m long, 2.05m wide, 30.5m high at the the center and its breast wall is 0.7m high. According to the tradition, because St. Vissarion had no money with which to pay the craftsmen, they stopped work on the bridge. A bear then presented itself, which helped to carry the raw materials but also led the chief craftsman to move a large boulder and uncover a treasure. So the workers were paid and the bridge was completed. According to the same tradition, it was St. Vissarion who first crossed the bridge, and threw the chief craftsman's mallet a few kilometers away, and were the mallet was found, the monastery of St. Vissarion was built (in the north bank of the river, were presently the settlement of St. Vissarion or locally known as Dousiko (Δούσικο) is situated).

Τελικά τέτοιου είδους γέφυρες υπάρχουν πολύ περισσότερες από ότι νόμιζα.
Πολύ ωραίο σημείο λήψης και καδράρισμα με επίσης πολύ καλό φωτισμό.

Γειά σου Μπάμπη,
Πολύ όμορφη σύνθεση με καταπληκτικό βάθος και προοπτική. Τα χρώματα και ο φωτισμός είναι άψογα και ο λίγος ουρανός που φαίνεται βοηθάει στην ισορροπία του κάδρου. Πόλυ καλή δουλειά.

Απ'ότι βλέπω τα κάνεις τα ταξιδάκια σου.
Καλό αυτό γιά μάς, γιατί μας ταξιδευεις σε όμορφα μέρη.
Πολύ ωραία τα θερμά γήινα χρώματα που μαζί με το λίγο μπλέ του ουρανού δίνουν ένα πολύ καλό αποτέλεσμα.

Εξαιρετικη φωτογραφια οπως παντα ωραια χρωματα και ακομη πιο ωραιο το παιχνιδι με τις σκιες.Σε ευαχαριστω ιδιαιτερα που μου δινεις την ευκαιρια να δω μια εικονα απο την Πυλη,το χωριο της μητερας μου, μιας και εχω αρκετα χρονια να την επισκευτω την περιοχη.

Hi Mpampis,

Nice photo with an intersting play of light and shadows. Good POV next to the fence, using it to create some depth, which is quite necessary in this photo. I think on the left side, the depth is not so good, all cluttered together. A solution could have been to find a POV more to the left, or point a bit more to the right, or a combination of both, but I don't know what is best. Anyhow, other aspects, colours, sharpness, contrast are proper and well executed. Good job.

I like the focal centrepiece of the arched bridge. Good sharpness, colour & lighting. The thin wedge of blue sky provides a welcome colour contrast & the diagonals of the stream & railing add some dynamism. Tfs!

Very bucolic scene, the old bridge looks pretty, the riverbank rocks seem a little overexposed, but the POV and shadows are really nice.

Magnifique cette photo avec ce pont en arche qui sert à quoi?, je ne sais pas puisqu'il se termine dans la montagne. L'endroit semble être un parc ou une aire de repos avec les tables. Bonne composition et excellente note.
