Info about the bridge:

The arched bridge at the Pouri location, which is considered to mark the end of the mountains and the beginning of the settlement, a classic example of stonemasonry of the era it was build (1514)

This arched bridge was built in 1514 by St. Vissarion, and up to 1936 was the only link between the plains of Thessaly and the villages of Pindos. It is 67m long, 2.05m wide, 30.5m high at the the center and its breast wall is 0.7m high. According to the tradition, because St. Vissarion had no money with which to pay the craftsmen, they stopped work on the bridge. A bear then presented itself, which helped to carry the raw materials but also led the chief craftsman to move a large boulder and uncover a treasure. So the workers were paid and the bridge was completed. According to the same tradition, it was St. Vissarion who first crossed the bridge, and threw the chief craftsman's mallet a few kilometers away, and were the mallet was found, the monastery of St. Vissarion was built (in the north bank of the river, were presently the settlement of St. Vissarion or locally known as Dousiko (Δούσικο) is situated).

Γειά σου Μπάμπη,
Υπέροχη φωτογραφία με πάρα πολύ καλή προοπτική και βάθος. Το γεφύρι που μας είχες παρουσιάσει πριν από 3-4 φωτό από αυτή την γωνία φαίνεται ακόμα πιο όμορφο. Η παρουσία των ανθρώπων μας βοηθά να συνειδητοποιήσουμε το μέγεθος, που είναι αρκετά μεγάλο. Πολύ καλή γωνία λήψης και όμορφα χρώματα.

Hello Mpampis. A lovely photo of this beautiful old stone bridge. Your choice of shooting angle in combination with the vertical format turns out quite effective - you get a good perspective effect and I like that the walking persons are included on the bridge. Indeed the play of shadows is nice, but I also like the richness of the stone textures.

Μπάμπη Καλησπέρα.
Μία απο τις καλύτερες σου.
Η διαγώνια τοποθέτηση της γέφυρας στο κάντρο σου ήταν πολύ καλή ιδέα . Σου δίνει την αίσθηση οτι θα την περπατήσεις.
Πάρα πολυ καλό "γράψιμο" και εξαιρετικές οι αντιθέσεις σκιάς και φωτός.
Πραγματικά μου αρέσει πολύ.

Hi Mpampi, I really dig the perpective here and the way you used the barrier of the bridge to define it. It's a lovely mountainscape!Thanx for the interesting info too.
A very fine job.
By the way: we went to a concert of Georgos Dalares in Amsterdam yesterday- it was great. He is still a superb life performer.

Καλημέρα Μπάμπη,
πολύ ωραίο σημείο λήψης και ο φωτισμός επίσης.
Οι άνθρωποι πάνω στην γέφυρα της προσθέτουν σίγουρα πολύ περισσότερο ενδιαφέρον.
Τελικά τι έγινε με τον Τζοναθαν, μας τον διέγραψε ο...τύπος.

Μπάμπη καλησπέρα,
όντως είναι ένα ειδυλλικό μέρος και του έχεις δώσει μια πολύ καλή προοπτική και βάθος που είναι εντυπωσιακά.Το ζευγάρι δίνει μία αίσθηση ζωής σ'αυτόν τον έρημο τόπο.Και το δένδρο στ'αριστερά χαρίζει στην φωτογραφία την σκιά του και σπάει την μονοτονία της συνέχειας στην τοιχοποία της γέφυρας.

Αυτή είναι η ομορφότερη φωτογραφία απ' όσες έχεις βάλει ως τώρα σχετικά με αυτό το γιοφύρι.Εξαιρετικές οι σκιές και ο φωτισμός όπως και η γωνία λήψης.
