Photographer's Note

GREATER FLAMINGO

Distribution:
Southern Sapin, S. France and East up to Kazakhstan, Middle East, N.W. and E. Africa.

Food:
Aquatic invertebrates, seeds of marsh grasses, algae and decaying leaves. Usually feeds with head, and most of neck under water.

Data:
Lives in saline lagoons and inland lakes. The world population is estimated at around 800.000 birds and is dispersed and migrating regurarly in small groups.

In Greece:
The Greater Flamingo is a regular migrant visitor in moderate numbers usually around March going up North and September-October when flying back to towards Africa. They mostly stop over in the wetlands of Thrace. During winter some birds will stay in the wetlands of Lesvos, Kos and Samos.

Γεια σου Αγνή, υπέροχα τα Φλαμίνγκο και τα έχεις καταγράψει εξαιρετικά στην φωτογραφία σου με υπέροχα χρώματα και φως. Πολύ όμορφο σφιχτό κάδρο. Το μόνο στοιχείο που υποδηλώνει οτι έχει τραβηχτεί σε πάρκο είναι τα ταμπελάκια στα πόδια. Σε χαιρετώ,

Πολύ καλή η συλλογή σου, αλλά αυτή εδώ είναι το κάτι άλλο. Έχω επισκεφθεί και εγώ (2 φορές) το πάρκο και είναι θαυμάσιο. Μου αρέσουν τα ρεαλιστικά σου χρώματα, η ευκρίνεια της φωτογραφίας αλλά και η εμπνευσμένη σύνθεση που έκανες.
