Photographer's Note
The on the left you may see the statue of Kossuth Lajos, a great Hungarian statesman of the 19th century. What is the connection? Lajos Kossuth made the Hungarian Declaration of Independence here on April 14, 1849, and was elected as the governor of the country here. (The English Wikipedia entry says 1848, wrongly).
About the Church:
A church already stood here in the Middle Ages, but it burnt down. St. Andrew Church, a Gothic hall church was built in its place between 1297 and 1311. Its area was about 16x46 meters. This church burnt down in 1564. In 1626 the already Protestant citizens of Debrecen started to build the St. Andrew Church again. With the support of George I Rákóczi construction was finished in 1628. In 1640-1642 a tower was constructed and a large bell – about 300 kg, made of Austrian cannonballs – was placed in it. In 1707, during the freedom fight led by Francis II Rákóczi the church suffered heavy damages from the imperial troops. The church burnt down on June 11, 1802, during the great fire which destroyed most of Debrecen.
The construction of the Great Church began on April 8, 1805. It was designed by Mihály Péchy, but the plans were altered several times during the construction, causing much frustration to the builders. The original plan featured a church with a cross-shaped ground plan and a large dome, but the plan was discarded, mainly due to financial reasons. (Source: Wikipedia)

Hello Gyorgy,
From your previous photograph, I would not have believed that this church was situated in such a wide, spacious square!
I like how you have used the mosaic emblem to anchor the f/g and add to the sense of gravitas.
It's a fine exposure, true colours and a good dof.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello György,
Reading the note I am almost surprised to find a church here at all. So many were destroyed, so many building plans were scrapped or altered. But this photo is well taken with the mosaic given a good place in the foreground, bridging the gap between us and the church. WS#1 is very nice, but #2 made me wonder if that young man didn't have a delivery to handle. There are hundreds of such suppliers of ready-made food everywhere in Stockholm, and nearly all are university students from South Asia doing that job to finance their studies.
Have a nice weekend.

Hello Gyorgy, It is a beautiful church in the nice town of Debrecen. It is not especially popular on TE, as you can see, my two photos of this church posted many years ago are on the same page with this one. I do not remember this mosaic but I was there ten years ago.
Kossuth fought together with the Polish general Jozef Bem (the national hero of Poland and Hungary).
Best regards and a nice Sunday

Hi Gyorgy
Very thoughtful composition, with round mosaic doing well as a foreground and also adding lots of depth to the photo. I know you can't control clouds but they also play a part in this image as they seem to be concentrating on and pointing at the church.
Like the ladies and in pink and what looks like a delivery man in WS.
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi Gyorgy,
Beautiful church indeed and you have captured it in a nice light. The blue sky goes so well with the yellow walls of the structure. Very well included circle in the foreground, it adds some interest here.
It reminds me my old photo of another church where I also included a circle in the foreground:

Hello Gyorgy,
I like how you included a large part of the square, including the colourful coat of arms, in the foreground. The sculpture and the yellow church façade looks very appealing in a pleasant sunlight.

Hi Gyorgy, now we know all about the church in backgroundin your last post, and interesting note about the statue too. Not a lucky church, burned a lot of times as i can read. 2 nice WS too, i like the mom taking the pic, the fountain style reminds a bit Gaudi'. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Oi Gyorgy,
Bela e imponente esta igreja. A praça é muito bonita também com este brasão em primeiro plano e as esculturas à esquerda. Belo trabalho.
Parabéns e abraço

Hello Gy,
The multicoloured coat of arms in mosaic form provides a beautiful foreground.
The distance between the mosaic, the statues and the church creates good depth in the photo.
Not only the church looks beautiful but also the buildings on the right side.
This is really a very spacious square. Luckily they didn't turn it into a parking lot.
Best regards, Paul
