Locals call this place Batman Mountain. The most incredible place I've ever seen. I could only stay a few minutes because of the black sand blowing into my eyes and ears, but the Nikon gear held up well.

I've been away from Trek Earth for quite a few years but glad to be back here where the critiques are most helpful and somewhat lacking on other sites. I am very pleased to see comments I've missed from members here since I've been away, apologies for the delay, I will work my way through making replies over the coming weeks. Thank you guys. Hello Jeff,
a really incredible scenery with the black sand to dominating the place and the 'gold' grass to create the superb contrast of it.The Mt. on the backdrop with the grey sky above, makes the image even more impressive. Well done.

Hello Jeff ,
Not really sure that my critique could be helpfull ;) , because you're a top class photographer (high above most of us on TE). This is a fantatstic capture of this fascinating place , yet more fascinating with thses dramatic cloudy conditions . The thin golden grass in the black lava sand provides a superb contrast to the overal ambiance .

Hi Jeff,

Quite a forbidding looking landscape, with black sand, black mountain and dark grey clouds. The grass adds a nice touch of color. Good composition and depth of field.

An incredible place and a great POV with the small black dunes in the foreground that add depth. The mountains in the background are incredible and the dark sky over the mountains make a great dramatic atmosphere. Great shot, congratulations !
