Photographer's Note
The dearest thing I know is a memory of sunny Sunday mornings in Kilkenny; the lovely line of castle, roof-top, spire and round tower against the pale blue sky, the sun revelling in the quiet colours of old stone, old walls, old tree; the tip-tap of the feet of people on the flagstones, and above all the flocking floating notes of the church bells. Sunday has a flavour of its own there, a clean, sweet, warming flavour."
Francis McManus, Kilkenny-born writer.

I love Kilkenny but I have never seen the castle from this viewpoint and it is magnificent. You have a very simple and strong composition captured very well.

hi maja,
a huge castle,I can smell the taste of malt whiskey:-)the sky&the castle&the ground are well proportioned but I think u should have rotated the compo for 1-2 degrees counterclockwise direction for the horizon.

Until now I knew Kilkenny just thanks to the beer.. Now I find out that there are wonderful castles up there. Very good perspective and colours.
Well done!

Hi Maja,
Nice castle, classical shot, pity you don't have a better light.

Good shot of the castle with the green of Ireland in the foreground. The tilting tower on the left bothers me a bit. I'll try and straighten it in a WS

Great picture. I went there eleven years ago, and the castle is monumental. I miss the old green carpets from Ireland.
