Photographer's Note

Nettuno is a town and commune of the province of Rome in the Lazio region of central Italy, 60 kilometers south of Rome. It is named in honour of the Roman god Neptune. A resort city and agricultural center on the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the Mediterranean Sea it has a population of approximately 40,000.

The town was founded by the Saracens in the ninth century. It is a popular tourist destination today, where there are a well-preserved old quarter, the Borgo Medievale, with mediaeval streets and small squares, and the Sangallo Fort built in the 1500s.

It's an important center of pilgrimage to the shrine of Saint Maria Goretti. In the shrine there is a crypt where lie the mortal remains of the saint. The church keeps also a priceless polychromed wooden statue of Our Lady of Grace, which is honoured by the town with a procession every year the first Saturday of May.

Nettuno has one of the most important Italian baseball teams, Danesi Nettuno often winner of the Championship. This game was taught to the local people during the Second World War by U.S. soldiers, who landed along the coasts for the Operation Shingle. The town has an American Cemetery and Memorial, where over 7,000 U.S. soldiers are buried.

In the domain of army, Nettuno has one of the biggest Poligono for the Italian Force, whose territory extends to the Province of Latina, and one of the most important Italian Police Schools, where especially police dogs are trained.

It has a touristic harbour hosting about 860 boats and a shopping center, selling everything for fishing and sailing.

Nettuno is the city of the D.O.C. wine Cacchione.

The privately-owned Villa Costaguti-Borghese at Nettuno, built 1648, has extensive gardens in a landscape park designed about 1840, now protected as a nature reserve. The Borghese Gladiator was discovered at Nettuno.

Bella foto della torre, ottimi colori, luci e POV, complimenti Giorgio, dove vai vai qualche torre ti attira sempre per essere fotografata...

Amazing sharpness of a very well framed photo. I like how you divided the photo verically,instead of teh usual holizontal framing, with the sky in one side.

Colori caldi,la luce, la nitidezza e la composizione, mi piace perchè sulla destra c'è una bellissima torre che sulla sinistra è incastonata in strutture moderne,colorate e piene di vita.

deliziosa questa torre illuminata dai colori caldi del tramonto. Molto belli i contrast di luce e colori con il vicino palazzo dove si percepiscono tutti i modi in cui la gente si industria per vivere questa estate così calda. Ottimi questi particolari.

Such wonderful clarity and sharpness in this image. The detail in the brickwork is impeccable. The lighting also deserves mention for creating such nice tones but still allowing for the crispness to shine through.

Hello Giorgio. The contrast of architecture is very nice in the picture. The tower on the right s definitely older and more detailed than the buildings on the left. The satellite dish is a nice distraction. Good colours and excellent sharpness. A lovely place. Thanks :-)
