Crete Senesi
Le Crete Senesi sono un ambiente singolare, quasi un’isola dove il sole picchia forte screpolando la terra, il vento soffia senza ostacoli, la luce è accecante e lo sguardo può spaziare ovunque, inseguendo orizzonti lontani, linee mirabili, grafiche uniche.
Si incontrano nella zona a sud-est della città di Siena, che include i territori comunali di Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, Montalcino e Trequanda, tutti in provincia di Siena.
Il nome deriva dall'argilla, o creta, presente nel terreno, che dà al paesaggio il caratteristico colore grigio-azzurro e un'apparenza lunare. Questa argilla caratteristica, mista a salgemma e gesso, detta mattaione, è costituita dai sedimenti del mare del Pliocene che copriva l'area tra 2,5 e 4,5 milioni di anni fa.
Il paesaggio è caratterizzato da colline brulle e dolcemente ondulate, calanchi, balze e biancane, querce e cipressi solitari, poderi isolati in cima alle alture, tratti di bosco negli avvallamenti, i fontoni che raccolgono l'acqua piovana.
La zona è conosciuta anche per la produzione del tartufo bianco delle crete.

I like the textures and contours of the bg hills at right. The diagonal slash of the oblique yellow straw colored grass in the margin adds dynamism. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Marvelous landscape from Tuscany. How strange that the hill looks different that the field around it. Wonderful layers with the silhouettes of the cypresses. Fabulous picture. Interesting colours, already like in autumn. I remember Tuscany in fresh green.

quite the varying styles of hillsides here. nothing at all is flat and some are more bumpy than the others. different tones, shades, and although its mostly brown, its still very attractive. thanks for this one

Lovely touch of golden colour and subtle warm directional light combination produced such a cracking landscape. A well composed and delicately exposed displaying the seasonal colours at its best. It's fabs shot, what else can I say..
