Crete Senesi
The Crete Senesi are a singular setting, almost an island where the sun hits a knock, knocking the ground, blowing the wind unobstructed, the light is blind and the gaze can span everywhere, pursuing distant horizons, delightful lines, unique graphics.
They meet in the southeast area of the city of Siena, which includes the communes of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme, Montalcino and Trequanda, all in the province of Siena.
The name comes from clay, or clay, present in the ground, giving the landscape the characteristic gray-blue color and a lunar appearance. This characteristic clay, mixed with salgem and chalk, called mattaione, is made up of Pliocene sea sediments covering the area between 2.5 and 4.5 million years ago.
The landscape is characterized by hilly, gently rolled hills, bald and whitish hills, oaks and lonely cypresses, isolated farms at the top of the hills, tracts of wood in the valleys, the fountains that collect rainwater.
The area is also known for producing white truffles in the Crete.

Beautiful capture of this beautiful landscape. Rolling hills stretching as far as the eye can see with the farmhouses providing the ideal focal points. Delightful soft lights and colours.

Hello Silvio,
A fantastic view of a scenery I wouldn't quite recognize as Italian. It's mainly the colours that seem to make it so unique. The softly bulging hills have created a wonderful play of light and shadows. The few buildings provide focal-points that give some structure to the view.

Beautiful view, I know you have fotographed fields but it seems we are in a desert landscape, it is of course only an illusion caused by the low light, great view of these gentle hills and farm houses

Hello Silvio, flying over this part of Italy, it does remind me of a lunar landscape, with all the channels created by running water, presenting an undulating scenery.
Here you have shown us just one small part.
The farms seem quite small in the landscape.

Despite the view of the gentle rolling hills I would never have guessed that this picture is taken in Tuscany.
It is more a bit like a desert, I think.

A beautiful view of this hilly landscape, the shapes of the earth are so beautiful here and I really like the different textures of the fields too. The two houses are well placed in the composition and the sidelight was most pleasant too. Great photo.

A lovely landscape with wonderful geological features looks almost barren, and its crispness in depth and colours on what looks an amazing sight for a few shots.
