California born and raised, Ms Dee discovered her passion for music, where so many greats get their start…in the church. At the young age of six, she was first called upon to solo over the the 9 piece gospel choir at her church…her mother was director of that choir. Ms Dee was the lead singer in Blues, R&B, and Soul bands, before she caught the eye and ear of R&B pioneer Johnny Otis. Otis heard Ms Dee singing at a festival where he too was performing, and was so taken by her talent, that very day asked her to be a part of The Johnny Otis Show. Never shy about letting the public know how he was moved by her talent, Otis affectionately nicknamed Ms Dee, “The Queen Of Hearts”. With The Johnny Otis Show, she performed at Otis’ induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in the ninth annual induction ceremony, 1994. In 1995, Ms Dee met Anthony Paule at a club in San Francisco. She sat in with his band, and an immediate professional partnership was formed. The two teamed up and recorded several songs for Paule’s upcoming release Big Guitar. One of the songs “Leavin’ On My Mind” gained popularity on radio, topping several regional charts. After receiving much critical acclaim from this CD, Paule and Ms. Dee toured the U.S, and Europe extensively. Paule was also recording and occasionally touring with Rounder Records artist, The Johnny Nocturne Band. Knowing Ms Dee would bring a positive change to The Johnny Nocturne Band, Paule pushed to have her join. The Anthony Paule Ms Dee musical union has endured the trials and tribulations in the ever changing world of Blues and jazz music.

Buona domenica a tutti
