San Valentino
Castle hill dominating the valley of the Nera (m.272), originally a manor house dependent on the abbey of St. Pietro in Valle. You can still find some traces of the fortifications built to 1453, after the grant received by the municipality of Spoleto, with walls to enclose the entire village, now thinned as a result of earthquakes and neglect.
The small town has never had self-government but depended on the castle Caselli, which he followed all the vicissitudes of history, from the point of view of religion belonged to the parish of Civitella.
On a small square on top on top of the country promises to the church of S. Valentino, linked to the cult of the holy bishop of Terni.
The Romanesque building, dating from the beginning of the thirteenth century, with smooth masonry curtain in front with two blocks and raining with a bell tower and houses the fresco decoration, executed between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, with inscriptions of the developers of votive images that cover almost all the walls. Eggi of the Master and his circle are assigned a Madonna and S. Ab Antonio., two enthroned Madonnas, Madonna della Misericordia, S. Bernard, S, Pontian, Madonna del Latte, S. Lucia. The portal that opens into the right side wall is an addition to the Renaissance.

Hello Silvio,
A very nice composition of the chapel and the other building seen through the open gate. You managed to fit the bell tower perfectly inside the frame of the roof and the wall. Fine tones of grey and nice texture of the wooden gate,
Regards,
Gert

Ciao Silvio,
It looks desrted after so many years from the 15th century, but the population leaved to larger urban places through lasty century, and it is a pity.
The beel maybe still ringing...
A good take through the alley, light and shadows well managed.
Arrivederci,
Ike

Hi Silvio,
You had a good idea to use the gate to frame the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the church and of the house. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Ciao Silvio,
J'aime beaucoup la construction de cette image. En partant par le cadrage vertical et l'utilisation du cadre de porte comme cadre au superbe clocher. Belles textures.
Amicalement

Hi Silvio
Great capture of this medieval village, it's luminous with cracking textural details, minimal colours rendition and good placement. The belltower seems to alert the eye while the foreground door strengthens the framing. It's smartly arranged shot and superbly exposed, Congrats
Best regards

Silvio, that porch is well used to frame the tower crowned with a bell. The buildings are mainly made in stone in this town. Fine colors, good sharpness, instructive photo note, regards.

Ciao Caro Silvio,
This is a classic, Silvio photograph, where the doorway becomes a natural border, framing the details of the scene beyond and adding a fine sense of depth as well as interest.
Lovely light contrasts and sharp, textural details.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Ciao Silvio,
very well framed scene here.
I see you thought it well through and the church fits perfectly under the gate.
Interesting uniform colors of the stone across all the buildings.
You have well balanced the exposure across different areas of the scene.
Very well seen and captured,
M
