Petrucci House - Trevi (PG)

Before the door, on the right you meet the Petrucci House (now Maurizi, and joined to the adjacent building), whose facade overlooking Via Salvatore Zappelli is all adorned with elegant graffiti, among other things with the fable of Diana and Atteone , illustrated by explanatory writings: DEA DYANA and, in the cartouche the cry of Actaeon to his dogs: ACTEON EGO SUM DOMINUM COGNOSCITE VESTRUM (I am Acteon: recognize your master); below three coats of arms, the central one with the Bernardinian monogram and the barely legible date: A. MCCCCCX ?. Actaeon, a Greek mythological hero raised by Chiron and who became a very talented hunter, was changed by Diana into a deer: according to a legend, for having boasted of overcoming the goddess in archery, according to another - and it is the one depicted here - for having admired the goddess' nudity in the bathroom for too long. He perished torn to pieces by his own dogs who did not recognize him in the appearance of a deer .: "Acteon ego sum: dominum cognoscite vestrum" (I am Acteon: recognize your master).

The curving arched roof of the portal provides a nice frame over the red tiled roof & interesting façade of the bg building with its triangle patterns and faintly visible frescoes. The geraniums add a splash of red and green. Good inclusion of the person standing in the doorway. Tfs!

Hello Silvio,
Both WS reveal that this house is more interesting than it appears to be at first look. The decorations on the façade are almost lost and need a careful inspection to be noticed. But in any case this is a nice and well composed photo with a good light and fine details, such as the person standing in the doorway and the flowers adorning the windows.

You had a good idea to use the arch to frame the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the Petrucci house. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

You use the arch if frame with a view on the old frontage.
One person look in the door but not alert toward the photographer

Hello Silvio, the painting is suffering and I expect that it is past the time for any renovation, what a pity.
Three shots that show the artwork before it is lost for ever.
By using the arch as a part of the frame, our eyes are drawn into the scene.
