Church of Sant'Emiliano - Trevi (PG)
It stands at the top of the Trevi hill and with its size and the elegant bell tower it completes and characterizes the profile of the town.
It is named after the first bishop of Trevi, patron saint of the city and the municipality, who suffered martyrdom in the year 304.
The Passio, of which two codices remain, from the 9th and 12th centuries, tells the story of the saint. Of Armenian origin, he was sent to govern the local Church, but, following the edict of Diocletian, he was taken and, after numerous tortures, put to death near a new olive tree that can still be admired (Olivo di S. Emiliano).
The cult of the patron saint has always been very much alive in Trevi. In the Middle Ages and the Renaissance S. Emiliano identified with Trevi itself, so much so that it was called "di S. Emiliano" to indicate a thing or an inhabitant of Trevi. The liturgical feast is celebrated on January 28 and the procession of the Illuminata has always been held on the evening before.

This is a very elegant neo-classical interior and a well taken photo from a good vantage point. The benches create nice depth and the photo is enlivened by the several persons sitting there. The light is quite good and well handled.

The length of the nave is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the architecture of the interior of the Sant'Emiliano church. The surrounding light is giving good colors ouput. Have a nice day.

This is an interesting, interior photograph, not only because the details of the altar and the beautiful, arched ceiling but also, because there are people worshipping.
We don't often see the interior details of a church, with people using it!

this interior is more classic and the special pieces of art aren't so evident, probably it was restored many times. anyway a nice image with excellent quality.

Used well the relative mild light condition in the big hall, but the fine outcome compensate about it.

Not easy to take because of the strong light in the central part of the ceiling.
But a clear and sharp picture of the beautiful church interior.
