Photographer's Note
This is my second print scanned from Burano, last days of Spring 1980.
The first post is this one, both taken while strolling the beautiful tourists destination island.
Café' on the canal side, music played and people were singing, a charm atmosphere in the old neighbourhood.
Taken with my Fujica-compact 35, my first camera I had since my 13th birthday, served me till replaced after more than 20 years' time, in 1989.
General location of the island on map, near Venezia: 45.4855, 12.4149

*** Cropped unevenly from all sides. Sepia tones are originally from the old paper scan.

Hi Ike,
The presence of the people is adding life to the scene. The length of the canal is giving depth to the composition. You have captured well the activities on the terrasse. Well done, have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
I remember well the year 1980 but for many young people this must seem like a very long time ago. The sepia colour makes your picture look like an old postcard. One woman in purple shirt is standing out.
The atmosphere looks very pleasant and you describe it also as most amusing: music and people singing on the terrace.
I like the slight turn of the canal and the excellent depth of the picture.
Beautiful contribution.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike,
I really like the sepia tones here, that emphasise the fact that this is a photo from the archives. You managed to convey the mood of the place really well through the photo of the people at the outdoor café.

Bonjour Ike,
Une très bonne photo tirée de tes archives. J'aime les teintes sépia qui recouvrent toute la scène. Une très bonne idée de la mode de l'époque.
Bon samedi

I've been seeing a lot of pictures of Venice, I still can't get my mind around living with canals instead of streets. I supposed get used to it. Nice capture of this little café. Good lighting and nice details for a scan. Well done, tfs.

Bonjour, cher Ike,
Ah ! voilà une composition qui a le mérite de nous rajeunir !!
La composition s'apparente à une peinture. J'aime beaucoup cette réalisation et la note d'accompagnement.
Très bonne journée.

Hello Ike
There's a genuine 80ies look and feel to this scene. I guess it has to do with the slightly rosa tone that lies over the whole picture. And also the well known plastic chairs :)
- Super nice pov and crop. The classic pose of the waiters doing nothing. Is it a waiter? Hm?
We see the canaland buildings and it's easy to recognize Venezia - or rather one of the nearby islands.
Cool shot Ike
Cheers Frank

Hello Ike,
It's nice to see someone else uploading these photos from yesteryear. There were many visitors to Venice 35 years ago but probably not quite as many as nowadays. The atmosphere still looks fairly relaxed and pleasant. The colours have faded somewhat, but the charm of the moment is still very nicely kept. It is a very well composed photo and an interesting document.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Ike,
Yes, old treasures are coming out one by one. The color fade is cute, but I remember life more colorful than this in 1980 :-). Good composition that draws the viewer into the scene.

Shalom Ike,
This has the atmosphere of a 35 year-old image from Venice, Murano or Burano, and clearly from the depth of your archives. I like it very much for that atmosphere alone. It is hard to believe that the latitude in this area if 45° N, that is 5° farther north than New York City. I hope we'll see more photos from your archives.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Ike
1980??? this has the look and feel of 1950!!!
So interesting to see Burano from 35 years ago...the other fun part of that is to actually know that 1980 WAS 35 years ago! Time fly's by too quickly.
looks pretty much the same when I was here last year.
I'm sure if this was in perfect color it would be just as 'colorful' as Burano shots of today.
fun blast from the past
cheers

Hello Ike,
35 year old but remains topical, nice terraces, people that drink a good cup of coffee, but not mobile telephone.
Perfect scanned with the sepia colours of long time ago.
Wonderful captured, lovely presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice new week,

Hello Ike.
A magnificent composition, which shows its age by the color tones, but at the same time is an excellent report, with a vision of the environment in the street in those 80 years.
An image to enjoy with bright and perfect clarity.
Excellent done. I love.
Happy start to the week.
Best wishes.
Luis.

Hello Ike
According to the pink cast produced by the archival impact, one can say those tourists wandering by the canal were living 'la vie en rose' in such an idyllic place!

Hello dear Ike,
I'd missed your recent postings with some "oldies" from your archive.
Let's start with this one : Perfect scan. I like this typical red & sepia tones of old scans.
But the capture itself is also mastery. The tiny Fujica and its proud owner has done good job.
TFS and best regards

Hello Ike,
I like how the perspective is full of people, they are well distributed and interesting, as important as the picturesque cityscape itself. You have framed this scene superbly, it's consistent, deep and interesting and it's also intriguing how the old looking tonalities comply with the layout. It's mainly the colours that deceive me into thinking that this is a 70's photo or older. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,
Ourania

Nice corner of this beautiful city, showing, at the smae time, the lively atmosphere of the bar, part of the cannal, and a little bit of the peculiar architecture. Godo work and historical record. Congratulations! I'm going to Venice next month and I'm really excited about it, I hope I can share some of the beauties I see there.

Shalom Ike. This image has already a patina of history to it, an era long gone.It seems a time when people were more relaxed. Nice faded colours to match the feeling of a memory from the past. Regards. Klaudio.

Hello Ike,
I'm glad that you mentioned people singing for this scene immediately reminded me of an old musical. the scene does look like a film set and could very easily imagine that it was a musical ... is that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers in the background!
A lovely composition, with effective guide lines and a very interesting subject.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Ike,
Looks like a sepia-toned print with color in parts. Amazing analogue image from 1980 with good sharpness and framing. Good sharpness and the diagonal line of chairs adds deep lead in lines and perspective. The canal at right with wooden poles adds a frame. Tfs.

although it was not such a long time ago, it really feels like an old photograph. May be the colors, may be slightly different clothing?
Nice atmosphere, it really encourages me to take some street photos for future generations :)
