Photographer's Note

The castle of Forsivo lies on the edge of a plateau, formed by one of the offshoots of the Sibillini mountains, located on the slopes of Monte Cavogna and near a pass, to which it probably owes its etymology, given that in this part of the Umbrian territory the denomination of pass takes the appellative of “Forca”, in fact, the toponym Forsivo that in dialect sounds Furcìu could derive from “furcivus” (Forca) similarly to what happens for grassland, etc.
The settlement is ancient, probably inhabited since prehistoric times, certainly inhabited by Umbrian populations, as evidenced by the presence of castellieri.
