Postignano Castle - Sellano (PG)

Perched on the slopes of Mount Puriggia, the Castle of Postignano dominates the Vigi valley from its tall tower houses, along an ancient path that connected Spoleto and Norcia with Foligno.
It has the typical triangular structure of a slope fortification, crowned at the top by the high hexagonal watchtower and defense tower.
There is no news of the foundation of Postignano and its first years of life, the original dedication of the church located inside the walls to San Primiano, whose cult was widespread in Valnerina until the ninth century AD, suggests that the primitive settlement dates back to this period, born therefore, like many others in the Valnerina, to guard an obligatory passage of an ancient communication route, and then fortified to defend against the incursions of Hungarians and Saracens.
