Monte Disgrazia - Valmalenco - Sondrio
The name Disgrazia derives from an erroneous transcription of the local toponym Des’giaça, that is "Disghiaccia", which the local populations used to indicate the melting of its glacier during the summer. The ancient name, more appropriate, was "Pizzo Bello”.
It is a mountain of the western Rhaetian Alps 3678 m high above sea level, located in the province of Sondrio, one of the main peaks of the central Valtellina, constitutes the watershed between Valmalenco and Val Masino, is adjacent to other important massifs of the central Alps such as the massif of Bernina and the Masino-Bregaglia.
