Photographer's Note
There are also 2 WS, I only show you the facade because it is forbidden to photograph inside.
The Colleoni Chapel, a Renaissance work by Giovanni Antonio Amadeo, is located on the Piazza del Duomo in upper Bergamo, leaning against the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore.
Commissioned by Bartolomeo Colleoni, as its own mausoleum, it was built between 1470 and 1476 but not completely completed, some works were added later initially with the support of Alessio Agliardi.
The façade, made up of inlays and decorations in polychrome marble with white, red and black lozenges, has a rose window above the portal, on the sides of which are two medallions depicting Caesar and Trajan. Its geometry develops vertically, following three parallel bands, enclosed by two historiated pilasters culminating in two pinnacles joined by an elegant loggia lightened by ten mullioned windows.
The roof is formed by an octagonal drum, which rests on the loggia, and by the segmented dome that ends with the lantern. In the drum there is a small rose window, aligned with the larger one below, which contains the bronze serpent of Moses as if to underline a line of continuity between the biblical character and Colleoni. The upper part of the base of the facade contains nine panels with bas-reliefs, five depicting ten paired biblical stories: the Creation of Adam and the Creation of Eve; the Temptation and the Expulsion from Eden; the Work of Adam and Eve and the Sacrifice of Isaac; the Offerings to God of Cain and Abel and the Killing of Abel; the Hunter Lamech and the Death of Cain; and four bas-reliefs with the life of Hercules: Hercules and Antaeus, Hercules and the Hydra of Lerna, Hercules and the Bull of Crete, Hercules against the Nemean Lion.
Above the pilasters of the windows on the sides of the portal, decorated with floral motifs and medallions with small busts, there are the four statues of the Virtues.

adramad

Hi Luciano.
The trees photos that you give us of this splendid chapel are splendid, its rich façade lends itself to fantastic photos of details such as one of the WS ones, I remember this beautiful place very well, as in your photos I also had a gray day although I was a month of September.
Magnificent composition and color.
Excellent brightness and sharpness.
Good job. I love the photo.
Have a good week.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Ciao Luciano,
very impressive architecture photographed on an English-weather day, ha ha
In a way this makes me feel better seeing that even in Italy the weather is sometimes cloudy and sky white. I guess the number of days like this is just much higher in England as opposed to Italy.
Very nice reportage,

Hello Luciano, you found another arch through which to get this view, it frames the domed roof beautifully.
It is a beautiful church. Imagine how the people must have been in awe of it when it was first built, and it still looks wonderful today.
I like your point of view with the stone arches on the left. Good to see people out and about.
Thank you for the workshop too.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Luciano
Half hidden, still very wonderful, this yet another architectural gem in Italy that I hadn't heard of. It does look very cold out there, though.
Thanks for posting & cheers

Hi Luciano,
Those delicate patterns on the church facade are quite original. I remember this church is on quite tight spot so it is very difficult to capture it in one picture. But it is pretty impressive in this way too.

Hi Luciano
A chapel is usually small, but this one is quite big.
I like the façade with its nice details and the exposure.

Hello Luciano,
I realized I had missed this one. The façade we see is exquisitely ornamented in a most beautiful style, as we can see more clearly in the WS. I like how you composed the main photo with a view through an arch and the side wall with further arches leading us towards the entrance. It is well exposed on what looks like a fairly dull day, and the colours are good.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Luciano,
What a gigantic chapel!
Your main photo has a very interesting composition and framing. Your two photos in the WS clearly show the many details of this fantastic archectural wonder.
The winter sky didn't really cooperate but your photos are very clear and sharp.

Ciao Caro Luciano,
Your w/s show us beautiful, sharp details of the chapel but your main shot immediately draws our attention with this well conceived composition. It is almost as if we are secretly spying on the building!
The viewpoint also gives a fine sense of depth to the photograph.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)
