Armenzano Castle

Armenzano is the farthest castle from the city of Assisi and in the highest position 759 m s. L. m. it is 10 km from Assisi and 14 from Spello.
It lies on a hill from which you can enjoy the splendid panorama of the hills and mountains of Nocera and the green valley of the Anna stream.
Every year in June, it takes on the golden-yellow mantle of the gorse.
The name Armenzano comes from the Latin “armentum” which means herd of oxen, horses, etc .; the main resource of this town was in fact for a long time livestock because its geological conformation, very steep, lends itself to pastures, but not to agriculture.
From the findings made, the presence of the Castle dates back to the period of the Roman Republic, in fact coins from that historical period were found in the area and are now preserved in the Numismatic Museum of the University of Perugia.

Hello Silvio,
This is a photo slightly like a Renaissance painting. Particularly the clouds and the light are attractive, and the castle on the hill is a strong focal-point. It's a nicely balanced composition with fine colours.

In this photo you have reserved quite a lot of space for the sky and the clouds.
That does not make the castle and the buildings any less impressive.

Lovely panoramic view of the town. The location on top of the hill is very well apparent.
