Oratory of San Bernardino - Montefranco Perugia

The interior of the oratory, with a single nave covered by cross vaults, houses in the back wall, a Madonna and Child between San Francesco and San Sebastiano from the early 16th century, attributed to Perugino Orlando Merlini, a pupil of Benozzo Gozzoli.
On the left wall there is a San Bernardino. and a very deteriorated Sant’Antonio da Padova. The frescoes have recently been cleaned and are awaiting restoration. Hello Silvio,
The frescos are not in the best condition, but I have seen worse damage and they are still beautiful. I like the plain white walls and relative simplicity of the architecture that make us focus entirely on the paintings. The light was quite good and you handled it well.

Le sujet est bien cadré. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de l'intérieur de l'oratoire San Bernardino. La lumière fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journée.

Frescoes have always a vert great value though the old age.

This tiny oratorio is barely large enough for the sole confession of the venial sins; but how beautifully decorated in the former architectural style and magnificently captured by available light!

Looking at these frescoes I wonder whether they really need "restoration" or just maintenance to stop them deteriorating. There seems to be enough to be enjoyed as are.

the rest of these murals looks well preserved despite some parts were lost.I imagine as it would be when painted new.

It looks plain and simple, therein lies it charm. It looks like they can't protect it from moisture very effectively. I am glad they are planning to restore the frescoes.
