Stairway to heaven, a photo from Siena, Tuscany

Photographer's Note

The Crete Senesi refers to an area of the Italian region of Tuscany to the south of Siena. It consists of a range of hills and woods among villages and includes the comuni of Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme and San Giovanni d'Asso, all within the province of Siena.

Crete senesi are literally ‘Siennese clays’ and the distinctive grey colouration of the soil gives the landscape an appearance often described as lunar. This characteristic clay, known as mattaione, represents the sediments of the Pliocene sea which covered the area between 2.5 and 4.5 million years ago.

I like the idea and the clouds. I think stronger sharpening would be advantageous (and perhaps a bit more saturation).

Le nuvole sono un'altra delle mie passioni e questa tua foto ha catturato la mia attenzione. Molto originale la composizione; emozionante il titolo (è una delle mie canzoni preferite). forse dal polarizer avresti potuto ottenere qualcosina in più, ma rimane una ottima foto.

bella e originale composizione , mi domando quanro hai cercato questa scaletta , molto bello lo spazio riservato alle nuvole , ha ragione Carlo magari potevi spingere un po' di piu' il polarizzatore ,
comunque un gran bel lavoro

Hello Sabrina,

Another one of your excellent shots that evokes images of Andrew Wyeth's Christina's World, but see it in expanded view. You are right to show so much sky here, especially when it puts on such a lovely display. The title is appropriate.

Last night I saw on television a very old movie, "Barefoot Contessa" made in 1954 — starring Ava Gardner, Humphrey Boggart, and the Italian actor Rossano Brazzi (1916-1994). I remember Rossano Brazzi quite well, and when I googled him, I found out that he was from Bologna. Have you heard of him?
