Photographer's Note
Built in the late 13th century, developed into the largest church of northern Vidzeme, testifying to the wealth and self-confidence of the citizens in this flourishing town.
This was the Dom Church of the Livonian Order, and has the tombs of masters of the order, priests and knights. Facing south on the buttress at the SW corner of the church is a sundial with the date 1744.
