Photographer's Note

Victoria Gate: Victoria Gate is the main gate that leads from Valletta to the Grand Harbour. It substituted the quaint ‘Porta del Monte’ and was planned during the times of Sir Arthur Borton, who laid the foundation stone in 1884. Victoria gate was opened to the public in 1885. The wider arched entrances provided access to carriages, riders and vehicles, while pedestrians walked through the smaller doors on the sides. The arched entrances are decorated by Malta and Valletta’s coats of arms while the top part is greatly decorated in the British style.

Found a perfect frontal POV Krzysztof, with best light directly upon the impressive gate.
The flag beautifully waveing against the blue sky.

An excellent capture of this monumental gateway, a souvenir of the British occupation of the island. I like the lights and colours and the fine rendering of the architectural detail. Slight pity about the encroaching car, but that is entirely beyond your control.

Marvellous picture of this yellow sandstone Victoria Gate against the deep blue sky. Funny that some small details distract your focus in this perfect scene, like the car on the left side. You didn’t park your car at that place I presume?

super atrakcyjna brama w typowo maltanskim kolorze kamienia.
O ile pamietam kidy tam bylem brama ta byla w rusztowaniach tak wiec nie mialem jej okazji wlasciwie zobaczyc.
