Photographer's Note

Once again a shot from the North Sea Jazz 2006-series. But no artist this time :)

At the North Sea Jazz-festival, people have a chance to not only listen to great music, but also to spend some time in the shops or on the foodcourt. The shops are mainlt filled with Jazz-merchandise and instruments. This gave me a great opportunity to do some try-outs on for instance saxophones and these drums.

When I walked by this stand I immediately stopped. Up front there were these three drums with the spotlight very subtile placed on the middle one. They didn't just draw my attention, they were screaming my name to take their picture. I only took one shot of these drums (on the artists, audience and saxes I did many, many more shots) and this is the result - not cropped or otherwise adjusted. As you probably alleady noticed by this note, I am very proud of this shot. It shows the movement and the beauty in sound, even if you can't hear it, just like the pictures of Tracy Chapman and of her tapping hands. I think these are my best shots yet.
I'm also very lucky that nobody passed by/got in the way when I took this picutre. Guess it was one of my lucky shots this evening.

This picture is a part of the North Sea Jazz 2006 travelogue. Please take some time to also (re)view my other pictures in this travelogue:
