Photographer's Note
RbN 7 - Spacetower
Displayed in this NightHunt capture is a part of the viewing platform of the Euromast.
The Euromast has been restyled and a few years ago. In this process it didn’t only loose its grittiness but also its sense of wonder. The restaurant was restyled by mainstream designer Jan des Bouvrie and the top level – an external rotating elevator fitted with windows slowly rising to 190 m – lost its name (Spacetower), special lighting and sound effects while starting its ascent..... and is now called Eurosocoop.
Framing this shot I was searching for that ol’ Spacetower atmosphere.
The yellow structure is the concrete base of the Euroscoop, the metallic structure on the left houses an elevator. In the bottom-right corner is a part of nocturnal industrial Rotterdam to be discerned .
PCS2 tech: cropped, altered the contrast, saturation, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, applied the high pass filter to enhance the textures, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.
Rinie’s pic is here.

Hey Bert, looks good, a neat and tight picture, with an apt til, a nice lookthrough between the elevator and the actual tower to the not yet dark sky on the other side and the lights of the city. I like tje shadow pattern of the two steel steps with the grid.
Nice lines!

Hoi Bert,

Not an easy photo Bert, but today I´ve seen a wonderful movie that is going to be released in Europe soon (and that I recommend you) called "Babel", I have get the same feeling with this photo: Looking for humanity. I cant avoid to look the little bit of city you show us. Cities are a mix of walls but with spaces to look through. Quite a difficult photo, Bert.
PS: But difficult is not a problem for me.

Hi Bert
This does look as though it's from a sci-fi movie. Your tilt gives added dynamics. I like the different textures of the buildings, the golden yellow and how you included the city lights and evening sky.

Hi Bert
A very original picture emphasized by the tilt. The yellow lighting is superb and enhances the exposure and colouring. Good sharpness of image and a nice intense framing.
Well done.

Hej Bert,
Prachtige foto van dit stukje van de Euromast. De belichting is zeer geslaagd en de kleuren bijzonder aantrekkelijk. Wat ik ook heel leuk vind zijn de lichtjes van het havengebied in de achtergrond. Uitstekend werk!
Groeten,
