Photographer's Note
Stepping Stones
The Museum de Fundatie in Zwolle is one of the many excellent museums in the Netherlands that attract a lot of people with attractive exhibitions.
A week after our visit to the Frisian fountains we went to Zwolle to visit the GIACOMETTI-CHADWICK - FACING FEAR exhibition.
But we could also see some remnants of the previous exhibition - SIZE DOES MATTER by Ronald Westerhuis.
Next to the entrance to the museum (of which Benny recently posted some beautiful photographs on TE) was the impressive stainless steel sculpture "Stepping Stones" by Ronald Westerhuis. Later we also discovered a scale model of this shiny sculpture inside the museum.
Ronald Westerhuis (1971) makes huge sculptures from stainless steel. He gained international fame since he was commissioned in 2003 to design the flame for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Westerhuis became fascinated as a welder in the offshore by the material stainless steel. Since then he has made impressive sculptures that are displayed and sold from Shanghai to Miami.
As you are used to from me, first two artistic impressions and the third photo the unveiling of the total images.

Hi Rob
You've captured the reflections in this sculpture brilliantly. I loved the warped buildings. I suppose that you are in the middle of the bottom reflection.
cheers

Bonjour, cher Rob,
Ces sculptures sont étonnantes et attirent les photographes et visiteurs, les reflets prennent des formes bizarres, le résultat est différent en fonction de la hauteur.
En tout cas, la réussite photographique est toujours présente.
Amitiés.

Hello Rob, Such mirrors give the great opportunity of fine reflections with the distortions. The best example is the whole pile of mirror balls in Bilbao Guggenheim. Amusing views.
Have a nice week

Hello Rob,
It's an attractive sculpture and it's interesting to see how the light outside and inside gives it such different appearances. In both cases it offers an unlimited number of photo opportunities, including selfies. But I have a photo from Moderna Museet which possibly sets some kind of selfie record. I never posted it, but maybe I should. Anyway, this gave me a joyful start of the week.
Best regards,
Gert

Indrukwekkende fotoreeks, Rob.
Zoniet, dan is het Back to the future?
Groeten

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob,
What fun!
But ... these are the sort of reflections that ladies usually avoid because they make you look squat and fat!
Still, great fun! Did you see people shimmying around in from of the sculptures, creating different effects?
I love that sort of behaviour.
The first two photographs really intrigue. They clearly show shiny surfaces and amazing reflections.
It is only really on the last w/s that we understand how the sculptures fit together.
Th sculptures remind me of those created by Anish Kapoor.
He often used shiny spheres balanced in a tall, pillar shape, creating amazing reflections.
I photographed one of his sculptures in London.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Rob
J'aime beaucoup ces formes qui permettent de réaliser d'aussi belle compositions où on voit le devant et le derrière dans la même image avec beaucoup de distorsions.
Amicalement

Hello Rob, the artwork is an incredible display of skill.
How do you get such perfect shapes from stainless steel?
All three shots give us a complete idea of the sculpture. I particularly like the 'Outdoor-Indoor' shot.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hallo Rob, that aesthetic sculpture made in stainless steel reminds a giant narghile. That material reflects like a mirror what is around it. Good capture of a symmetrical reflection including columns and some visitors. Fine colors, instructive photo note, regards.

Hi Rob
now this is a neat looking piece of art. Looking at the WS, i'm surprised how it actually looks from a distance, I guess I was expecting something a little different. I was expecting it to be wider/fatter...but its tall and skinny. The WS photos are very important. nice post
cheers
