Photographer's Note

This shot is taken at the UIT MARKT in Amsterdam
This is an annual event that symbolize the start of the cultural session.There is a lot to do and to see (like concerts, shows, Salsa work shops etc.)

While walking around I notice this old man sitting in this bench,there was something about him (French look) which i liked,
When I got home I noticed the girl sitting next to him.Both had the thinking look on them and while observing the shot i started to wonder..
Is he smiling because he is happy she is sitting next to him, was he thinking about the Good old days?
And why was looking so sad? (Was she stood up by her boyfriend…?)

Ishai, great capture of this moment. I like pictures like these because it leaves everything up to imagination. BW looks great in this picture. :0)

Fenomenaal catch Ishai!
Oud en jong, scharp en wazig, gekleed en bijna zonder klerenz, met pet en zonder, met bril en zonder, baard en zonder,....
Zo dichtbij elkaar zijn deze twee personen en ze verschillen toch enorm...
En alles in zeer fijn sepia tone, en net zo goed ingelijst.
Prachtig gedaan. Bravo.

j'adore ta photo et les regards des personnes; la jeune fille regarde tout droit/ son avenir? et le "vieux" semble s'attacher au présent
la couleur sepia rend la photo tres chaleureuse

Very beautiful double portrait, full with emotions, very sensitive. I like much.
Even with the focus on the man, the girl is very present too.
They are lost in their thoughts.

Beautiful shot and perfect use of sepia colours. Your DoF is excellent. The composition is good too. Perhaps a little crop on the right (to position their faces a bit more to the right of the picture) would be nice too. But I understand if you want to include the coat of the man completely. The photo lets us use our imagination to make up the thoughts of the girl and the man. But sometimes our imagination is reaching far beyond the real thoughts! Perhaps the girl is not sad at all, but just thinking what kind of vegetables she will buy for dinner ;-)

Nice shot. I love the look of that old man, kindof a French Colonel Sanders that's given up chicken for painting! ;-) The DOF is great in this, the bikes in the background are very "Amsterdam"

Terrific dual portrait, Ishai. Such a contrast between these two faces. I think he's very happy to be sharing the moment with his granddaughter, and she's completely bored and wishing to be at the mall with her friends. I hope I'm wrong! :) Anyway, it looks great in sepia, light and dof are good too.

The lighting is good and the use of sepia tone is justifed. Just a thought that maybe it would have been another equally interesting shot if the focus was on the lady.

Great picture,
I like the contrasts between the two.
Also the clothing is an contrast. The girl sitting there with in summer and the man sitting there in winter clothing.
Everything is some what blurry except these two.

Great picture again.

Both in thinking,one to last days,the one to future,...great capturing you did,fine in sepia medium,DOF well controlled,...I like the light here,it seems that it was a nice sunny day for them,for sitting there & for a moment fall in the relaxing & thinking situation,...
