Maihaugen Museum
Maihaugen is an open air museum with 200 old and new buildings, exhibitions, cafes and lots of activities. It was founded by the dentist Anders Sandvig in 1887. In 1904 the museum was moved to Maihaugen, Lillehammer.

Anders Sandvig was a dentist, who from 1887 began to collect ancient artifacts from the old peasant culture, folk art and artisan tools, and eventually, to a great extent, buildings, mainly from Gudbrandsdalen. Maihaugen was a pioneer among the Nordic museums because the collection soon became extensive and detailed.
