Rural Churches [4]

Churches are among my favourite subjects for photography, for several reasons. Architecture is one thing, history another. Besides, many of them are very photogenic!

This one is Horg kirke (kirke = church) in Central Norway, built from timber and finished in the year 1893. The location is close to the main road between Oslo and Trondheim, in the midst of lush farmland in typical rural Norway.

This image is a very traditional composition, involving a very traditional piece of architecture! I don’t think I exaggerate if I say this the most common kind of architecture for wooden churches in Norway…

Name in Norwegian: Horg kirke.
