Photographer's Note

This image shows central parts of the main island in the municipality of Fedje, located northwest of the city of Bergen. The picture was taken from the central who controls the ship traffic in the area. Among the highly trafficed area outside the coastline of Fedje, and in the fjords between Fedje and the mainland, we do also find a lot of tankers carrying oil. Quite near is the oil terminal and refinery at located at Mongstad on the mainland, which can be seen in the background of the image. The 12th of January 2007 the tanker Server got problems outside the coastline of Fedje, and ran aground. All of the crewmembers were rescued, but the of the cargo, almost 300 tons of 585 tons with oil were leaking out in the sea. The church which is seen in the middle of the picture was built in 1941. For more information about Fedje, I refer to the other pictures in this serie.

Thanks for watching.
