Carrying coal home, a photo from Slaskie, Ouest

Photographer's Note

A man in an old-fashionned-God-abandoned, ex-miners quartier is carrying home bags with coal using a pre-historic bike.

The quartier's inhabitans do not like photographers much (unless they get U know a bit). Therefore it was quick hip-shot.

I'll be back there for more photos of people and to listen to their stories once I get a quick DSLR with an wide angle.

Czolem Rafal!
Swietna fotografia. Widzialem filmy Kutza, czytalem pare ksiazek o Slasku, mam tam paru znajomych. Mysle, ze to zdjecie pokazuje wazna prawde o Slasku. Cala Polska w cieniu Slaska.

Maybe not the best photo on this site from a purely technical point of view, but well rendering the atmosphere of decayiunhg city quarters and people struggling to make a living.

Noo, ciekawe to jest, choć może bardziej podkręciłbym kontrasty i wolałbym węglarza widzianego z przodu.

Hi Rafal,

well let me write something about this shot. It's an impressice daily life photo. I'm sure the choice for the b&w with strong contrasts was the right decision. It looks like an old picture. Love the way the bricks fill the image and the wet floor. Great work!
