Photographer's Note

Alfred settlement founded in the mid-nineteenth century, when operating the mine since 1834 and it was Alfred from it took its name. In 1859 Alfred was joined to the nearby mines of Hohenlohe Wełnowca. Shaft Alfred was out of service at the beginning of the 20s the last century. Buildings that stand here, built in the late nineteenth century and before it was adapted to serve as a dwelling: smithy, cechownia, building hoist machine, nadszybia, boiler room and administration building of the mine. In 1951, Alfred was a colony with Wełnowcem part of Katowice. Cologne was entered in the register of historic monuments in 1978.
