Church of St. Giles is a late Romanesque church, it is the oldest, fully preserved building in Wroclaw, built in the 20s of the thirteenth century. The vault of the building is supported by only a single pillar, next to the church is a brick arch called Dumpling Gate.
At the top of the gate there is a small ball resembling a dumpling. According to a legend, a bricklayer erecting the gate put it there after the death of his wife, who cooked the most delicious potato dumplings.
