The Furnas Lagoon located in the parish of Furnas, Povoação municipality, is the third largest lagoon of the island of São Miguel, and was last to have erupted in 1630, and where there are the most visible signs of volcanic captivity on which are implanted the Azorean islands.rnIn this idyllic paradise, we can see the Lagoon of flowering and green banks, and the fumaroles where volcanic activity comes to the surface in puddles of mud and boiling water.
