The Ponta de São Lourenço is the most easterly tip of Madeira and is a natural reserve with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and spectacular rock formations, is a unique landscape very different from the rest of the island.
This is the peninsula's easternmost island of Madeira, with a 9 km long and 2km wide, including the two islets (islet islet of Barley and Ponta de São Lourenço).
It was declared a Natural Reserve in 1982 with the aim of preserving its flora, fauna and geological heritage.
Apart from vegetation, the reserve is home to many species of birds and even a few sea lions, which are occasionally seen
