Looking down, a photo from Madeira, Islands

Photographer's Note

Sao Lourenço Point is the eastern-most peninsula of Madeira island. It is named after the caravel sailed by João Gonçalves de Zarco, one of the three discoverers of Madeira island, who on coming near this piece of land shouted to his ship “São Lourenço, that’s enough!”.

This peninsula is volcanic in origin, and is mainly made of basalt, although there are also some limestone sediment formations.

At the end of the Point there are two islets: the Cevada, Metade or Desembarcadouro Islet, and the S. Lourenço Point, Farol or Fora Islet. The peninsula is classified as a partial natural reserve and the Desembarcadouro Islet is a total natural reserve. All the land and sea by the North coast, up to a depth of 50metres, is part of the European network of important community sites - Natura 2000.

La vue est belle vue d'en haut mais je ne serais pas tenté de plonger même si l'eau est bien belle avec des couleurs invitantes. J'aime la couleur de la falaise à tes pieds.

this is where our brain fools us or we fool our brain.
we know for a fact there's a FG/BG here, but its as if you took this image looking at a wall :)
such an effective image because of the two main colour contrasts interacting with each other. awesome

A vertiginous view of the ocean reminiscent of the heady heights of Zakynthos in Greece. Good warm cold colour contrasts between the blue sea and red clifftops. The dark rocks add a graphic element. Tfs!
