Place: Serra da Estrela - Mountain Range of the Star

Theme: Snow on the highest mountain of Portugal

Serra da Estrela (English: Mountain range of the Star) is the highest mountain range in Portugal and includes mainland Portugal's highest peak, which has a natural altitude of 1993 m (around 6541 feet).
The mountain range is about 100 km long and is 30 km at its widest point. It is formed from a huge granite ridge that once formed the southern frontier of the country. Due to its bizarrely shaped crags and gorges, mountain streams and lakes, beautiful forests and magnificent views, the area ranks among Portugal’s outstanding scenic attractions.

Wow, so much snow in Portugal? And Goncalo shows us the blooming almond trees. Do you also ski there? The view must be gorgeous from there. The red jackets look very attractive.

What a beautiful day and what contrasts in vivid colours! For such a bright day, you have very little oe of the snow.
The hut and machine are strongly positioned, whilst the red posts make a natural link to the strongly positioned skiers.
Excellent sharpness.

I love the hot vs cold color contrasts between the blue sky & blue tinted snow against the red attire of the skiers & the yellow wheel of the skilift. Good sharpness & punchy light contrasts. The pov is excellent. Nice graphism too. Tfs!

Hello Filipe,

You're capturing well this mountain top with snow by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's impressive to see tasteful color combination of white, red, yellow and blue. You catch well ski lift, ski players and cottage by a good arrangement, too. And, streaming clouds in the sky draws out an additional good effect in this image.

Under this white blanket of snow, there are millions of small quartz-stones, I taken home 14 units of them, in my bag...
The place is impressive in summer and winter as well,
Nice managed the contrast with red: people dresses, the hut and poles on cable-car-station.

Este lugar es uno de mis objetivos en una próxima visita a Portugal, aunque ya he visto esta montaña desde lejos, algún día subiré a ella. No sabía que había instalaciones para practicar deportes de invierno, es toda una sorpresa para mi.
Muy buena la composición con bellos colores que resaltan sobre la blanca nieve.

Olá, amigo Filipe,
esta "antigua" foto mantiene su frescura y su calidad de imagen y de colores, y sigue siendo una composición muy atractiva, y más aún para nosotros que nos gusta el esquí.
La luminosidad de la foto es espectacular, y los colores son vívidos y agradables, creando un bonito contraste con la blancura de la nieve.
Un bello recuerdo, sin duda.

The air in high altitude is nice and clear to see here. You did well with the bright light, not over expose but still nice deep and rich blue tone on the sky and the red of the jackets. Excellent details and good composition.

bonitas as cores da compo. gosto da luz e da nitidez, interessantes elementos. se bem que não me lembro desta estrutura de teleféricos, a parte mais alta da serra fica no monumento da cruz com a torre, fica perto deste lugar ? a última vez que lá estive foi em 2001.
