Photographer's Note

Welcome to Bolsa Palace.

Where to begin with this beautiful Palace??? It was built in the 19th century, and took over 60 years to fully complete.

There are two or three main highlights that must be mentioned. One is the Arabian Hall Room. It took 18 years to complete and has over 10 Kilograms of gold in its walls. There is a photo in the WS, but trust me - it does not do it justice - you have to see it in person.

Second is the Inner Central Courtyard, with a huge Octagonal Iron Dome - I'll post a main photo of that next time.

Here for now, its the main central staircase. I'm a huge fan of these staircases - I just find them so romantic and they make for great photographs.

I'm not sure how many people actually visit this Palace in Porto, but trust me its well worth it.
What's funny is, I did the tour with my wife, but the only tour available was in Spanish or German - so we had NO idea what we were looking at. The english tour was a different time of day and we couldn't make it. I didn't really care at the time because I'm there to get photos as my primary goal anyways.

For me personally, I do admit having people in the scene has its advantages. BUT, for this scene, its only us tourists in a group setting. So its not the type of 'people' that enhance the photo, it only makes it worse. Therefore I wanted to get the scene completely undisturbed. As we were waiting for the tour to begin, I told the tour guide I had to go to the Bathroom (of course I didn't). I quickly hopped over the 'do not cross' barriers and got this shot, then quickly headed back to the group.

If I didn't do that, there was no way I'd get this scene clean and free of us annoying tourists :)

Hope you like it
