Photographer's Note
The islet of Vila Franca do Campo has a unique place not only in the History of Portugal but also in World History.
But it has also a unique place in Science, from Geology to Climatology.
Geographically it is also unique for several reasons. One example: in the subtropics (between latitude 23° 26' and 40°) it is the World's Only uninhabited oceanic island or islet with a beach bordered by naturally growing trees, other than practically inaccessible Henderson Island, in the southern hemisphere.
Contrast this with thousands of such islands and islets in the tropics (between the equator and latitude 23° 26') .

Hi Ilena,
The panoraic format really seems to amplify the vast width of the place .. beautiful colors .. I really like the level of contrast .. beautiful and rugged .. very nice, take care, John
