Photographer's Note
I wonder how many places there are where you can surf in the shaddow of a castle? And what would the builders of the castle have thought if they had seen people surfing?
This is Castelo do Queijo, just north of Porto. I was constructed during the War of Restoration, possibly by year 1661 or 1662. Queijo is a type of cheese and it is though this eminated from the granitic rock that it was built. The fort is complete with moat and draw-bridge and beautifully restored. A closer view of the castle appears in teh workshop.

Hello Chris,
The surfer seems dwarfed by the massive castle in the background. I like the way you have composed the shot, giving the scene great depth. The colours are very attractive and the sharpness excellent.

Bonjour Chris,
J'aime beaucoup le cadrage au ras de l'eau qui donne une perspective magnifique sur les vagues et le surfer solitaire. L'arrière plan est de toute beauté.

Good Morning Chris,
Although your title mentions the surfer, your shot is very much about the sea and its relationship with the fort, that is very well positioned within the frame. There is an excellent sense of movement from the crashing waves in the midground to its gentle movement as it expends its energy over the sand.
There is a blue cast over the shot which, to some extent, deadens the impact of that wonderful sky. I will try a w/s to remove it.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Chris. Seeing the thumbnail I thought that it was the same pov of my last picture :) I like your composition with the big rock on the right balancing the image. Colors are very nice and sharpness is great even back there on the fort. Workshop is also great and I think that you could have use it as a main post. Well done.
Have a nice day.
Paulo
