Abrantes is a town in the District of Santarém, situated on a hillside on the Tagus River, the city has a history that has accompanied over the centuries, having been conquered from the Moors in 1173, due to its strategic location on the Rio Tejo, had great military importance, especially at the time of the Reconquista and during the French invasions of 1807. Its location also made it an important with Abrantes river port strategic in the traditional trade, bound for Lisbon, up to 70 years.
