Back to the Middle Ages!, a photo from Beja, Sud

Photographer's Note

As soon as Spring starts and till the end of summer, there are several reenactments of Medieval Fairs in the country. Take became very popular these last years and they attract lost of visitors. Many of them take place in historical cities or villages. I go there whenever I can because I like them and because they are usually very good places for photos.
This one took place last year, in Vila Ruiva, a small village in the Alentejo. It's not a very big one, but I liked it a lot.

Hello Ana,

In Belgium is this in future forbidden playing with birds, almost incredible after all the years! .
Composition and presentation are always pleasant to look at.

Interesting image of the bird man in the old Medieval clothing. I guess they were hunting with prey birds, right?

A première vue, je croyais que cet homme était une sorte de statue tellement il est figé dans son mouvement. Il est vraiment très beau dans ses vêtements du moyen âge.

This costume is great, and so is the bird. :-) This man almost looks like a statue by the way he is standing. It's a lovely capture, and the blue sky, and red cap are nice, too.

Wow this is so impressive and stanning shot at all.
His strong eyes are very eye-cathing and you could get the perfect moment when the eagle just started flying.
reasoable cropping is also so nice to see.

Hello Ana,
I wonder if this bird also received a blessing before the festival. This was certainly a good place for photos. It's a wonderfully clear and sharp picture from a nice low perspective. The colours and light are perfect, and the man's dress has lots of interesting details. His arms and the bird form a diagonal which is countered by the invisible line drawn between the green branches in opposite corners.

With a low Pov, you enhance the man in a kind of medieval cloth ready to fly his prey bird. We feel the determination of the man and the the bird is ready to take off.

Hi Ana
It must have been a lot of fun to see and there's so many photo opportunities of people and characters to shoot at this event. Quite a serious looking eagle man who means business perhaps but I like his very interesting costumes and emotion that plays into this along with the nicely balanced framing of its subjects. Very interesting and an enjoyable image to savour, Congrats.
