Photographer's Note

This is one of the first photos I took in Porto on the day of my arrival in the city. I liked the view of the two baroque churches from a slight distance and wanted to fill the foreground with a few persons.

What you see here are two separate churches from the 18th century. The nearest one is the Igreja do Carmo, behind it is the Igreja dos Carmelitas. Quoting portugalvisitor.com "The two churches are separated by a very narrow (1m wide) house that was inhabited until the 1980's. The house was built so that the two churches would not share a common wall and to prevent any relations between the nuns of Igreja dos Carmelitas and the monks of Igreja do Carmo".

Here is a larger version.

Later on I took more photos of the Carmo church and I have shown two of them earlier, in this photo and in this one.

I will add two more photos from the streets of Porto, one showing green caps, the other featuring a pink shirt.
