Photographer's Note
This is a short revisit to TE,I hope y’all are doing well!
For this purpose I’ve chosen the fishery harbour of delightful Santa Luzia in the Sotavento in southern Portugal. The place where my first TE photos were taken in 2004. The village is also called ('O Capital de Polvo' – the octopus capital) and has a large fishery fleet and wharf. Where, together with the thriving wharf business, there are also some interesting wrecks to be enjoyed on the 'ship cemetery' of the wharf. Like the 'Pérola Negra' (Black pearl) depicted here.
I used a wholly manual lens here, the Samyang 85 1,4, with its aperture wide open. The name of this post is 'a title of a play and a movie'. Ánd a referral to the initial process of learning to operate a lens like this. It was very rewarding in terms of the renewed understanding of working with minimal DoF…but it didn’t come easy ;-)

Hallo Bert,

Goed foto werk Bert. Bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John

Hi Bert, very original idea this pic! The perspective is a winner, with the blurred part in background on the top and the great sharpness on the lower part to see the work of time and water on the painted wood of the boat, beautiful composition from your trip in Algarve,i like it! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Bert,
It's an original composition and your idea of a narrow dof worked very well. The well worn bow of the old fishing boat looks like a piece of natural graffiti, so ugly it is becoming beautiful. The unexpected title gets an amusing and logical explanation.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Bert, What a nice surprise, after so many years you have paid a visit. I hope it will not be so short. Yes, I am still travelling and I am even crazier than earlier. :). And I remember well my TE meeting in Rotterdam. It was fun.
original composition. Such old paints look very picturesque. Nice remains of the old sign in black. The good effect of the narrow dof. Kind regards MAlgo

Hi dear friend Bert
How are you
This facade is very clever and attractive to choose from. Good clarity and exposure. The Samangi lens works well. Good text in image capture function. Thanks for sharing

Hi Bert, A simple composition which works well. I'm surprised that the exposure was 30 seconds at 1.4. Must have been a very dark scene! cheers, Steve

Bonjour, cher Bert,

Hello Bert,
How good to see you posting again!
You always were able to post very artistic shots.
I like this very much; it's not only the rough, textural details of the prow, but how you have angled it, to a make a very effective link with the oof b/g.
Hope to see more of your shots.
Regards,
Bev :-)

Dag Bert,
Groet Rob

Hello, Bert!
The details of this boat were captured with perfect sharpness and texture, and the shallow depth of field is also great, it gives very good depth to the image! Wonderful composition! Very nice job!

Hi Bert
great to have you back on TE, we need all the members we can get these days. We also need shots like this bc they're different from the usual shots we see. excellent final result in this close up of the textures and peeling paints...cool
