Photographer's Note

This is a very old little church situated in the small village of S.Mateus, around 5kms from Montemor-o-Novo. It's not common to see photos of it. It's the only church in the village and it's situated near the cemetery. It's devoted to S. Mateus (St. Matthew) and every summer there's a feast there. It's a very old church but it has received works along the centuries. Also, like most part of the houses and churches in the south of Portugal, it's painted quite often. It gave me the same usual problem, like most part of the old churches, the building is not really straight, so it's sometimes difficult to get photos. It has been taken today. It has rained a lot but we had some moments of sun.

In the workshop, you'll find the complete facade of the church.
This church became quite a puzzle to me, I could find no way to get the photos right. To get the stairs and the clock tower straight the door is just terrible. Anyway, as I had promised, I'm posting it. It gives you an idea of how it is like. It's simple but very nice, only the walls are getting green, a consequence of this terrible winter.I guess I really need to go there a couple of times more and try to discover a better way of getting some better photos of it.I guess I've just found out why I never see photos of this church.
